The First Battle of Panipat was fought on 21 April 1526. This battle of Panipat was fouth between the invading forces of Babur and the Lodi Empire. It started the Mughal Empire. This was one of the earliest battles involving gunpowder, firearms and field artillery. The Mughal forces of Babur along with the Timurid ruler of Kabulistan, defeated the much larger ruling army of Ibrahim Lodi in 1526. Ibrahim Lodi was the Sultan of Delhi. Panipat is a name of a village of Indian state Hariyana where this battle was fought. It is guessed that Babur’s forces numbered around 15,000 men and had between 20 to 24 pieces of field artillery.
