Explanation : In order to accomplish his price control measure, Alauddin promulgated the following seven ordinances according to the Tarikh-i- Ftruzhshai: (1) all food prices were to be flxed: [ii] a high ranking official was to ensure that no tampering was done; (iii) large storages of grain was established in Delhi; (iv) grain trade and transport were controlled by the government; (v) peasants and traders were prohibited from hoarding grains; (vi) the collection of revenue was to be made in kind and the government procurement of grain was to be done in the field to eliminate the private storage of grain; and (vii) a daily status report on market prices had to be submitted to the Sultan. ....Read more
