Shimla Deputation organized by the Indian Muslim leader Agha Khan met the Governor General and Viceroy Lord Minto at Shimla on 1 October, 1906. The aim of the deputation was to win the sympathy of the British Rule on matters relating to their interest. Therefore to safeguard their interests, the Muslim leaders drew up a plan of separate electorate of their community.
