Gopal Krishna Gokhale founded ‘Servants of India Society’ in 1905. The aim of the Society was to train national missionaries for the service of India; to promote, by all constitutional means, the true interest of the Indian people and to prepare a cadre of selfless workers who were to devout their lives to the cause of the country in a religious spirit. This society gives some great social workers like U. Shrinivas Shashtri, G.K. Devdhar, N.M. Joshi, Pandit Hridyanath Kunjru. M.C. Setlavad, B.N. Rao andAnadi Krishna Swamy Ayar were its members.
