Explanation : There are at present 10 States with Fifth Schedule was covered under the provisions of the Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996. These States are Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana. It is popularity known as PESA Act on Extension Act.
