The Gandhi-Irwin Pact was a political agreement signed by Mahatma Gandhi and the then Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin on 5th March, 1931 before the Second Round Table Conference in London. Withdrawal of all ordinances issued by British Government imposing curbs on the activities of INC. Withdrawal of all prosecutions except those involving violence. The release of prisoners arrested for participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement. Removal of the tax on Salt. Lift the ban on Congress. Congress did not participate during first Round Table Conference. This pact was implemented to pave the way for Congress to attend Round Table Conference.
