Explanation : Chand Bibi was the daughter of Husain Nizam Shah of Ahmednagar who was later married to All Adil Shah of Bijapur. She was the Queen of the Muslim kingdom of Bijapur. After her husband’s death, his nephew Ibrahim Adil Shah, aminor succeeded the throne of Bijapur. Chand Bibi became the regent and the real ruler of this kingdom. However, she later returned to her homeland Ahmednagar and became the Queen Regent till the minor king Bhadaur Shah was old enough to take over the crown. In her capacity as the Queen Regent, she defeated Mughal emperor Akbar’s army under the command of Prince Murad. She ruled as a queen for three years after that. As the Queen Regent of Ahmednagar (1596-99), she is best known for defending Ahmednagar against the Mughal forces of Emperor Akbar in 1595.
