World Health Day is celebrated every year 'on 7 April, to make the world aware of the importance of good health. It is celebrated with the support of the World Health Organization Governments all over the world to help in raising awareness among people towards health issues on this day, by organising awareness drives. Every year a different theme on the health issues is Chosen. Polio Eradication was one of the special themes of the year 1995 of World Health Day. Since then, most countries have become free of this fatal disease because of the awareness that was created and the actions are taken. Member states of the United Nations have pledged to work towards reducing child mortality, improving maternal health and fighting against some serious diseases like malaria.

Many events are organised to convey the importance of good health and healthy living. Health camps, vaccination drives, debates, quiz programs, art exhibitions, essay writing competitions and award ceremonies are organised by various governments and non-governmental organisations).
