World Environment Day is a yearly event celebrated on 5 June. It is one of the most important ways through which the United Nations spreads worldwide awareness about the environment and encourage people's action. The aim of celebrating this day is to make people realise their responsibility and their power to help build a better world. It is also a day for people to come together to build a cleaner, greener and brighter world for themselves and for the future generations.
On World Environment Day, the United Nations urges people to make this happen by adopting alternative energy resources, conservation of forests, organising neighboushood clean-up programmes, starting plantation drives, stopping the use of plastic bags, walking or cycling to work, promoting recycling of materials, and similar activities that can contribute towards saving the environment.....Read more
