Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian who go into Space. He was born on 13th January 1949 in Punjab, India. Rakesh completed his early education at St. Goerge’s Grammer School of Hyderabad. Thereafter, he joined as an Air Force Cadet in NDA in 1966. He was appointed as Pilot Officer in the Indian Air Force in 1970. Rakesh Sharma took part in a space session held by ISRO in 2006. India sent its first astronaut, Rakesh Sharma, aboard Soviet spacecraft Salyut 7 in April 1984.
