Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq was the first CM of Jammu and Kashmir. Before India's independence and the establishment of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir, there used to be Prime Ministers of the state. Meher Chand Mahajan was the first PM of Jammu and Kashmir. On 15th October 1947, he assumed the office of Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and in less than two weeks. The Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir had formally acceded to India on 27th October 1947. Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq was the Last Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 1964 to 1965. When the post was changed on 30 March 1965 into Cheif Minister. He became as the first Chief Minister till his death in 1971.
