The Pagalpanthi rebellion was indeed a rebellion of Garos Pagalpanth was a quasi-religious community/sect which was introduced by Karam Shah of North Bengal. Son of Karam Shah and successor Tipu was inspired with religious and political purposes. Tipu and Shah led these people to uphold the religion and rights of the peasants in Bengal. He captured Sherpur in 1825 and became king. He appointed a judge, a magistrate and a collector to control administration.
