Farrukh Siyar, the Mughal Emperor, promoted Murshid Quli Khan to Governor of Bengal in 1717. Shujauddin, the son-in-law of Murshid Quli Khan, became the Governor of Bengal after the death of Murshid Quli Khan who was duly ratified by the Mughal Emperor, Muhammad Shah “Rangeela”.
