International Criminal Court to Probe ‘War Crimes’ in Palestine

The International Criminal Court’s Chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda on December 21, 2019 announced to launch a full investigation into alleged war crimes in the Palestinian Territories as soon as the court’s jurisdiction had been established.

The announcement opens the possibility of charges being filed against Israelis or Palestinians. ICC launched a preliminary probe in January, 2015 into allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Israel and the Palestinian territories, in the wake of the 2014 Gaza war.
