Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 30 May 2019 was sworn in as Prime Minister for the second time. Fifty seven Ministers took oath with him. The government on 31 May 2019 announced the portfolios of the Union ministers with BJP President Amit Shah being named home minister, Rajnath Singh defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman finance minister and former foreign secretary S Jaishankar external affairs minister.
