Renowned authors Nizam Siddiqui and Nasira Sharma have bagged Sahitya Akademi Award-2016 for their Urdu and Hindi literary works respectively. They are among the 24 authors named for the award in Delhi on 21 December, 2016.

69 year old Nizam Siddiqui was selected for his critique 'Mabad-e-Jadidiat Se Naye Ahed Ki Takhliqiyat Tak'. He is the second Akademi award recipient after writer Padma Shree Shamsur Rehman Farooqui to be selected for award in Urdu criticism.
An elated Siddiqui said the award has come as an acceptance for his thoughts on the new wave of criticism in Urdu literature.

Sahitya Akademi Award is a literary honor in India which Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, annually confers on writers of outstanding works in one of the twenty-four major Indian languages.
